The Game of War - Fire Age game is a strategy game as first inspired by Command and Conquer all those years ago, but it has taken a more commonly seen Age of Empires approach. You build and customize your empire, then you train your soldiers to fight your war. The game is free to play and is relatively easy, but you will require in-app purchased items in order to stand a chance of beating the game, which means that it is free to download, but it is actually a Paymium game.
As advertised by Kate Upton
The developer of Game of War - Fire Age has a lot of money, to the point where they even hired the lingerie model Kate Upon to advertise the game during the US Superbowl. You are presented with an area that makes up your city, and you may build different things within your city to advance your cause. For example, if you want money, you may build a gold mine, or if you want stone, you may build a quarry. If you have ever played any of these types of games before, you will see that Game of War - Fire Age is a carbon copy of almost all of them. The only different is that this game has a rather complex research tree, and unlike other games, it is loaded with pictures of Kate Upon. Start with the tutorial and learn how to make money, build, and create troops, and then move onto the game where you may eventually talk to other people within the game and join alliances.
It is definitely a game for your phone
If you are looking to play it on your PC or laptop, then you will be disappointed because the screen is oddly small and is only really built for mobile phones and tablet device. The building and moving area within the city is also rather cramped, and that is yet again another feature to suit mobile device users so they do not have to swipe as often to see what they are doing. The graphics are textured and shaded, but still have a hint of cartoony graphics within them. The graphics are pretty standard for non-indie games on the Android and iOS. You have to build things within the game, but in typical “app” fashion, you have to wait minutes for them to build. With regular PC and console games, the build times are usually a few seconds and/or a few minutes at most, but with Game of War - Fire Age, you will be waiting tens of minutes for even simple structures. It slows the pace of the game, which is okay for hardcore gamers, but it may wear thin for people that want action. Follow quests and grind to level up, but to make an impact you will need to spend money.
Nice game overall - just be patient
The complex and deep research tree helps to make the game a little more varied than much of the competition, but it is otherwise a carbon copy of every other medieval war game on the market. The addition of pictures of Kate Upon is a nice distraction, but the Paymium mechanic is a little unfair. If you are looking for a free game that you can beat, then this is not it, but if you are willing to spend a little money to reach the top, and if you are willing to wait for your buildings to because constructed, then this is the game for you.
